Bombed

like a bombed out trench I lay there
stripped of life, full of debris
the echos of the gunfire
still fill the dark night air
my body was a battleground
my lungs were full of air
my eyes were full of death

bombed - lost in time waiting for the world collide
bombed - never had a chance what the hell did I expect from this dance
bombed - well look at this we never had the time to try
bombed - gleefully we cut "us" up knocked each other down
bombed - filled each other with the blood without ever knowing why
bombed - I knocked you up you knocked me down why did you push me to the ground
bombed - I suppose I am guilty too but I'm the one who wears the scars
bombed - They say it's life I call it war you've just gotta settle the score
bombed - You give me reason to wonder why I never have the urge to try
bombed - your lips your hair your hips your chest what have you hidden beneath your dress
bombed - why in heavens name were your hands made? To rip my heart right from my chest?
bombed - Your memory won't let me be, for chrissakes will you set me free?

I heard a siren calling
sweet sounding in the distance
my feet moved and I followed
blindly, clinging to the sound
can you hear it?
can you see my body?
my hair full of dirt and
my heart full of lead

I may as well be on a different planet
For what I can understand here
doesn't amount to much
Should I embrace this confusion
and accept it as a part of me?
I think I will refuse this pain
For, though wounded, as long as I am able
As a good solider I will fight another day
