Untitled 30

It broke his heart to see her go
It broke her heart to leave.
And as she cleaned her car on this snowy night
She got angrier and angrier.
With every stroke of her brush,
With every ounce of snow that fell,
She was that much closer to leaving.
That much closer to needing to leave.
He watched her from his window
As she exorcised him from her life.
He realized that sometimes things cannot be fixed
If they are not broken first.

For a band of gold, she sold her soul;
In exchange, she gave a promise.
And now some lucky stiff out there
Owns her so completely.
His soul and flesh, unfortunately,
Are pretty much attached.
Just as her lonely lovers is;
Not so easily distinguishable.
They live seperate lives under one small roof,
But for her sex, that is all it takes.
She is his to take and take again;
Reality wins again over fantasy with no brakes.

He thinks that it's kinda obvious
That they're standing on different planets
When the most beautiful thing in his world
Is the ugliest thing in hers.
The weather is of no assistance
Through this long and sleepless night.
As a cold reminder to his heartstrings
In the fresh snow of his driveway,
Her footprints walk away.
