Happy New Year!

Monday

Well, Happy New Year. We made it to the millenium, finally, as us purists say. As you can see by the picture above, a certain friend of ours did a little too much partying last night as he welcomed in the New Year. Naughty dog. I went to a much quieter party. Other than stuffing myself to the hilt with food (my favorite dish was the Adirondack Rat, some of you call it venison.) and drink, I played pool and got reaquainted with some folks I had only briefly met. I met most of them a year ago at last years new year's party. Did anyone else notice that this new year came without much fan fare at all? I really liked the television coverage last year of the different celebrations. I don't know about you, but it made the world seem a little smaller to me. Nicer, almost. I would have liked to see that sort of thing again.

Like the slippers? Homer's mouth is warmer than you think. My daughter gave them to me for Christmas.

Today I went on another hash. Fairly small - only 3 hounds. We had a good time running up and down hills in the snow. We were even to use some plastic sheeting at one point during the run to go down a sledding hill, but we passed on that. I had dinner with my folks afterwards and watched Washington State beat Purdue. It was a nice time. Oh - I saw a couple movies over the weekend. I went to a friend's house and watched my first DVD movie (I am not kidding - first time). It was Jumanji. Not a bad film, really. I also rented U-571 on video earlier this weekend. That was really good. I still think Das Boat is the best submarine movie ever.

On a sad note, my parents dog Duffy passed away last week. He was a good dog and a good friend. Rest in Peace, buddy.
